Remove old shower thermostatic valve for replacement

Hi everyone,
I am trying to remove my old shower thermostatic valve to replace it with a more modern looking shower set.
However I am not finding how I am supposed to dismount it and I don't want to just use force, as I am sure there is a way to dismount it properly.
I added a picture to show the type of valve.

Hi gabi-le-bricolo.
You will have to remove the handle - either the collar will unscrew or there will be screws under the handle which will allow you to remove the cover plate.

Stoneyboy,
Thanks for the reply.
I could not see any scew on the handle.
I am not sure what you mean by the collar. I have try to unscrew the plastic round but, but it seemed pretty stuck.
How much strength is required for unscrewing the collar?

Hi gabe-le-bricolo.
There may be a centre screw accessed through the hole in the handle. Until you get the handle off you will not see how the collar is held on.
Many of the components will be naturally welded in place from minerals in your water so you may have to use some penetrating oil to make disssembly easier.
Regards.
