Poor hot supply to kitchen in bungalow

by Norman E » Sun Jan 14, 2024 6:47 am

In this bungalow the cws tank is on the loft floor and the cylinder on the ground floor. The hot supply from the cylinder goes up from the cylinder to the loft and across the loft floor and drops down to the kitchen resulting in almost no head of water. Should a booster pump be fitted next to the cylinder or in the loft where i guess it will pull water rather than push it, if that makes a difference. Any help will be very welcome.

Hi Norman e.
A lot will depend on your pipe work layout - firstly try it with the HWC, but you may have problems with the pump sucking air down the vent pipe. If this doesn’t work try installing in the loft pipe work..
You may find that fitting a mains fed instantaneous water heater under the sink would be a cheaper easier and more effective solution.
