Hi guys, I have a bit of a problem. My toilet has stopped flushing and a guy just came round and told me that the siphon needs replacing. Can anyone refer me to any information on how to replace this? He said it isn't a big job so I want to try do do it myself :S
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jamie

If the cistern is close coupled (tank sits on top of the pan) then the whole tank has to be removed from the wall, to gain access to the lock nut that fixes the siphon in.
If the cistern is fixed above the pan, and is connected using a short pipe, look underneath, and the lock nut is visible.
Undo the pipe, and nut, and the siphon lifts out. Loads of water comes too, so watch out!
Don't forget to turn the water off, and empty the cistern first.

also it could just be you need a new flap valve (which is just a thin bit of plastic) - cheaper than a new unit and you can replace it without taking the cistern off (although that's not hard)
