Immersion Heater keeps tripping out

by Fenders1970 » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:07 am

I'm having problems with the top up immersion heater on my direct water cylinder, as it keeps tripping. I've adjusted the thermostat slightly while still keeping the temperature above 60c but to no avail.

Is it a possibility that the main tank immersion heater has blown and I'm over working the top up immersion? At the moment its easy enough for me to keep resetting the top up immersion, but I know that's going to cause me a whole host of problems in the long run!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest the immersion has developed an internal fault which is causing the circuit to continually overload. Eventually it will fail totally meanwhile, this tripping is not doing your mcb any good and may even pose a danger, so it would be wise to have this attended to sooner rather than later.

As the immersion is getting hot a hairline crack is being exposed to the water. you need to replace it.
