Bathroom basin question?

by prbaxter » Sun Jan 13, 2008 6:43 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get a basin for our bathroom that has a pedestal that makes contact with the wall?

The missus has a requirement that no pipes must be visible in the new bathroom and this is the only way to conseal the waste pipe from the basin.

many thanks,
Bax

If you have a pedestal that fits flush to the wall then how are you going to gain access to the trap/waste???
If the basin is wall mounted then you could box the waste in, which would allow access to the waste pipe/trap

waste pipe will go straight out of the wall through behind the pedestal, but you have a point - how will I secure the pedestal and secure the basin - you cant take the basin off whilst its plumbed in and you cant move the ped without taking the basin off.

Its a no goer.

Thanks for that - i'll talk the missus in to having a visible waste pipe - or 2 inches of it at least.

why not get a basin that sits on top of a vanity unit? will hide all the pipes and waste and will give extra storage! a neat solution i think

You can get wall mounted basins with a semi pedestal that covers the pipe connections. The basin is fixed to the wall, then the pedestal is clipped or screwed in place after fixing and checking the plumbing.

Why not move the waste to below the floor so it is all hidden inside a normal pedestal?
