Immersion heater - can we install a mixer shower ?

we plan to buy a flat with only electric supply. Has a immersion heater water tank next to bathroom. Currently there is an electric shower with not great pressure.
Is it possible to install a different kind of shower eg mixer with concealed pipes etc ? we don't like the standard electric showers - cost isn't a big problem but do we have any choice with the type of shower??
