hi, i have recently bought a new bath although it has no holes for taps? how do i cut these, i know i need to use a hole saw but do i do it from the top or bottom to avoid splitting (like laminate flooring) or can i just put masking tape over where i want to drill( like cutting worktop) to stop splintering the acrylic? tia

I would drill from the top - as when you come through there may be splinters or a rough edge - at least they'll be hidden underneath.

I would also cover in masking tape - it's not going to cause damage - but may prevent it. Also try using a new hole saw - will be more effective than a used blunt one.

use a hole saw and cut from the top. that way any blowout will be underneath and will not be visible. i've actually done it with a spade bit in the past but i wouldnt recommend it.
