Vaillant Combi no hot water

by Kev007 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 2:21 pm

I've just returned home after working away for a while and found I have no hot water.
I'm supplied by a Vaillant TURBOmax VUW 242/1E Combi Boiler, when I turn on any hot water tap the boiler doesn't flash up anymore and green light with tap next to it doesn't illuminate on control panel.
Can anyone kindly explain whats not happening, do I have a defective sensor of some description??

Many thanks

Does the fulcrum arm move to operate the microswitch - if you have no idea what i mean - you need an engineeer out to repair.

If the fulcrum arm is not moving, then you need to strip down diverter and replace diaphragm and possibly fulcrum arm as they do snap.

Press microswitch down with screwdriver - if boiler flashes up then everything working fine and the dipahragm is the only problem.

Can anyone help please I have similar issue. Turning on hot water tap does nothing. I push the micro switch with a screwdriver and boiler fires up. But still no hot water. Feeling the heat exchanger only the pipe from combustion chamber is slightly warm going into the HE. Everything else cold. I have a VUW GB 242E.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
