Office/Shed Roof - what options?

Hi,

I am partway through building an office/shed in my garden which measures 3.5 x 4.3m.

Dueto planning permission we can only go up to 2.5m as it is right up against our boundary.

Therefore we are looking to put a sloping roof on rather than a pitched one. We are thinking of getting the timbers cut so they are 3" one end going down to nothing.

We will be laying sterling board on top of these timbers and then the material that we choose to waterproof/protect it.

Now the options we have as I see it are:

> Felt
> Corruguated plastic/Bitumen
> Shingles

Do people agree with this?

Questions:

> Are there any other alternatives?
> What is the cheapest?
> Does there have to be a steeper slope to be able to use tiles/shingles?

Any guidance/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Richard

"We are thinking of getting the timbers cut so they are 3" one end going down to nothing."

What are you going to fix the OSB to as it approaches "nothing"?

"Felt, Corruguated plastic/Bitumen, Shingles"

Any of these will be fine.

"What is the cheapest?"

You can check that as well as anyone else but shingles aren't that cheap.

"Does there have to be a steeper slope to be able to use tiles/shingles?"

I'd say no and I like the look of shingles anyway. They are easy to lay too!

Cheers

Think shingles need a much steeper pitch than you are proposing, otherwise the weather can drive underneath them, and cause problems
I would go with the felt.

Local help at hand!
