Structural Roof Void?

Hi, I have a 1930's detached chalet house, there is a second floor in the large roof space with 2 rooms and a bathroom. at the eaves of the roof there is some studwork (50x100) creating a large void in each room. the roof is a half hipped roof.

i wish to know if i can remove these studs therefore expanding the size of the rooms? or are they likely to be structural ie supporting the rafters?

Many thanks

Hi, you don't say how far along the run of the rafter the studwork is. This type of stud wall is usually below the purlins in a loft conversion, if your house was built with the studwork in situ then the chances are the stud wall is providing support for the rafters instead of a purlin. I wouldn't touch anything until you've had an architect or structural engineer look at it.

Help!
