Flat roofs

:? I have got some roofers here who are trying to put new boards onto damp old ones. Claiming that double thickness is better for strengthing the structure and they will try out. Is he right.

make sure there is no rot and the boards are only damp and not sodden.

We would not advise putting dry timber onto damp timber under any conditions. There can be no guarentee that the timber is treated and rot could easily set in. It is not normal or good practice to add a double thickness to a flat roof it is normal and good practice to strip off damaged wet boards and replace with good quality new boards.
