I live in a bungalow with a simple pitched roof (30 deg pitch) and double roll roman tiles. The roof ridge is leaking all along due to deterioration of mortar pointing. The local builder has inspected the roof by walking on the tiles without using roofing ladders and proposes to do the repair in a similar manner claiming it is ok to walk on this type of roof. Is this correct or will this cause problems later?

although it can be done, it is possible that the roofer is cracking weak tiles whilst doing the repair, roof ladders are the way to do it to avoid any damage.

I dont think many of us would re-bed a ridge using roof ladders and as long as its a reputable firm and not cowboys, the roofer would be watching out for any damage caused and would supply and fit the tiles without charge.
