Advice on how best to complete Chimney Capping to install an electric fire in the fireplace

Hi

We are currently privately renting our house and have plans to decorate and possibly install and electic fire place into an open brick fire place, what i need to know is is it best to cap the chimney off at the top to help prevent heat loss and wind and rain getting in or would a chimney baloon do the same job.

Closing a Fireplace

A fireplace, which is not used anymore, can be successfully closed to allow more wall space…
