Removing Aerial From Loft and Mounting on Chimney

Hi,
I have a tv aerial in the loft but constantly gets interference even with a signal amplifier. I wish to move the aerial to the roof/chimney.
My question is what type of roof material do I have and would it be straight forward leading the cable through from the loft to the roof to attach to the aerial on the roof. Also how would I go about doing this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
