Flashing Between Garage and House

Hi
We have a garage joined to the house (garage is set back so about 50% of the garage is joined to the house)
I was on the garage roof to clean out the house gutter recently and noticed a few things...1 a lot of moss up there, 2 the rubber seals around the fixing of the corrugate sheets are perishing and 3 there appeared to be no flashing between the house and the garage. Looks like there was mortar covered in tar?
1 and 2 I can deal with with a clean and either replace the fixings and rubber or a good dollop of bitumen paint to seal the fixings (explains the leaks!)
For number 3 , should there be flashing there, looks like there was never flashing fitted? It's the same at the front of the garage between the roof and the brickwork .
Garage is flat roof sloped from the front along the side of the house.
Do I Need to get flashing fitted or would this stuff do?
