Chasing cable from under stairs to stud wall above

by rmg47989 » Tue Jul 07, 2020 2:51 pm

Hi all hope you can help!

I am in a new build property and looking to move my virgin router upstairs. instead of chasing cables along the wall i would like to do this cleanly.

The cable is located underneath the stairs, which has a stud wall to the front - directly above this wall is the stud wall in the room where i would like the cable to go.

I have cut into the office stud wall and can see the wood beam to the bottom, would this be as simple as drilling with a flat wood bit through and feeding a wire/rod down to a opening in the bottom stud wall?

Hi rmg47989
Yes it should be but beware there may be screws or nails to drill through and there may be cables and pipes between the ceiling and floor above.
Regards S
