Condensation in loft ?

by marcusboy » Thu Nov 14, 2024 3:28 pm

Hi All, I was wondering if you could take a look at the attached pics and let me know what you think the cause of me getting mould patches on my ceiling and various parts of the wall. When I went up into my loft to have a look it seemed quiet wet up there. This happened last winter too but this year it seems to have gotten worse. I do not get the mould in the wet months, its mainly when the weather goes cold. The house is 5 years old and was built by a 5 star builder in Bloor homes. I was thinking maybe condensation but I am no expert......

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

It is probably condensation, there should be ventilation in your loft, vents in the eves at least.

Hello there, Many thanks for the reply, is there an alternative type of ventilation I can have installed as this style of house has been built with no eaves - hopefully you can see from the pics

Sofit vents. You may already have them, but they could be blocked with all that glass fibre insulation you have. You will have to have a look.
The other thing is, where is all the damp air coming from? Lofts are usually cold and windy.
