Soundproofing a party wall

Hi all

After some advice. I need to block out TV, music (not loud music), conversation noise and screaming kids.

With space and cost at a premium, I am unable to use the stud wall method of sound proofing and cannot afford the thinner more expensive materials. So I was hoping to use Gyproc Soundbloc 15mm plasterboard, and double sheet the party walls.

Has anyone done this? Does it work?

Any information would be very grateful.

Haven’t done it myself, but a person I know got their music room soundproofed recently. He used QuietRock soundproofing drywall. It worked out pretty reasonable, cost-wise, and is very effective in cutting out sound. You should try it out. It’s an easier option, and have heard it’s much better than the older, more traditional methods of soundproofing. Give it a shot!
