Soundproofing under bathroom

I am in the process of refitting our bathroom at the moment.
The bathroom toilet is located above the living room, and one thing that has always bugged me is that if it is quiet (ish) in the living room you can hear everything going on in the bathroom - not good.

Is there anything I can use to isolate the bathroom from the living room sound wise?

I was thinking perhaps something I can lay between the bathroom floor and the living room ceiling, (although the sound may still travel via the rafters that the floor / ceiling are connected to?) should the toilet pan be mouted onto something, rather than straight onto the wooden floor?

Any advice gratefully received :)
