We have a new build detached property (2012) and our property backs directly on to a neighbours garden.
They have children who play in the garden and their footfalls running around as well as bouncing balls and trampoline bouncing seems to be transmitting through our walls and into the living room and upper bedrooms.

I'm not sure if its directly from the noise or If its being transmitted through the ground and into our structure.

Can anyone suggest a solution for blocking this noise?

I was hoping for more of a solution from inside our house.
Their garden literally ends at the side wall of our property, there is no gap or fence in between.

I'm thinking of building a sub wall 10mm or so from the concrete block wall to isolate it (removing current stud-work and plasterboard) and then acoustic fiberglass and resilient channel + soundstop plasterboard. unfortunately the room next to it is the downstairs WC and taht room has a vent penetrating through the offending wall, im not sure of the options with this one.

Also, if the neighbors were game for it, would digging a trench, say half a foot wide or so down to our foundations along the bottom of the wall externally and filling this with stones make any difference to the impact transmission to our walls from footfalls and basketball bounces?

try asking the environmental health officer at your local council, he may have some ideas and its free
