I have been investigating potential ways to reduce airborne and aircraft noise in my property.

I have a bungalow roof conversion and the rooms have been built into the roof meaning we have very little roof void above the ceilings. The downside is that we do get a bit of aircraft noise from above.

ideally i’m looking at ways to reduce this down. I have been reading that the way forward would be to add some mass or a barrier layer - like Thermal Economics - Isorubber 6mm

Does anyone have experience of this and would you recommend it works?

Any soundproofing after a place is built is extremely difficult & usually involves trying to get an air gap to stop the transfer of sound through the buildings structure. Even if you use a product it will depend how its installed & if it has helped, chances are its also coming through the windows & air vents. You will notice that the website you looked at suggests this item as it creates an air gap.

But is a lot harder to install & this is assuming you have the ceiling hight as you will loose a couple of inches. But don't bother with anything you just stick to the walls.
