Improving Soundproofing of Victorian Cottage

Hi

We are looking for ways to reduce the road noise oustside our Victorian cottage. The front door leads directly out onto our small driveway. We currently have a composite door with three thin panes of glass, which do not block much noise. We do not want to build either an external or internal porch. We will be getting secondary glazing for the sash window, but we need a solution for the door. Would replacing it with a solid wood door with acoustic glass make a significant difference? Or perhaps a curtain of some sort, or an extra internal door? Grateful for any suggestions.

Archie

Before you proceed I'd check to see if there are gaps around the door - maybe not immediately visible, but air-gaps as it were. Sound is very good at getting through small airgaps. If you find any, you could apply that foam draught seal stuff perhaps on mating surfaces that...aren't mating, or a rubber seal if there's a gap at the bottom etc.
