Cooker hood - Recirculation v Ducted

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me please whether it's better to use charcoal recirculation filters or duct the waste out to atmosphere when using a cooker hood.

The hood is quite a distance from the outside wall and the ducting would look a little unsightly.

Any help would be appreciated

Go for filter, less aggro than fitting duct and holing the wall.

May I mention the importance of venting the water vapour to the outside!

Using a carbon filter to remove the oil and fat in cooking is possibly a good idea and is understandable in cold countries where warming incoming air is an expense.

In this country there are many homes suffering from condensation problems, possibly yours will be one of them when all the moisture from cooking is left to find the nearest cold surface and your windows and walls are running with condensation.

No doubt this coming winter will remind you.

I can only speak from my own experiences, I have always used a filter in my cooker hood in all the properties I have lived, I steam all my veg and some meats, like a brew now and again, so kettle often on, my family over those periods have been between 2 and 7 in household . can honestlt say never really had a problem with condensation in the kitchen.
