Installing dishwasher using washing machine pipes

by HeatherS » Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:25 pm

I'm hoping to install a dishwasher next to my washing machine. I'm guessing that I will need some sort of y connector for the cold tap to split the input between both machines. Is this correct?
Also, the washing machine currently has a flexible hose passed down a separate stand pipe, and there isn't any room for another hose from the dishwasher. It is too far to use the sink drainage too. I'm guessing I need another sort of y connector, but not sure what type. Can anyone help?

There is no such fitting for the waste, you will have to modify the standpipe using standard tees and elbows.

Final solution

To finish off the post -
I connected the inlet water pipes to the same tap using the Y-piece as previous post suggested.
For the waste pipe, I added an extra standpipe next to the existing one using a T-joint, and a washing machine standpipe pack so the final result ended up looking like an F lying on its back.
Hope that helps someone else out there. :D
