Knackered boiler?

by foggy70 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:27 am

Hi

I am really hoping someone can help as I am freezing in my flat and also want a bath in HOT water!!

My boiler pilot has gone out, I tried the usual, press and hold the on button, release and then press again but it does nothing! It doesn't even make a sound when the on button is depressed, doesn't sound like any gas is coming in and there is no clicking light it is trying to light. Looking at the pressure gauge it is down on 0 then refering to the manual it says you need to "Fill and Vent"???

Could it be a pump problem? Or is it a case of having to shell out for a new boiler??

PLEASE HELP A VERY COLD AND SMELLY PERSON!!

No, you need to do as the manual says - fill and vent.

Fill the system, vent the radiators then light the pilot, if the pilot doesn't light it may need the ignition repairing - get a RGI - you shouldn't need a new boiler.

Hi

Thanks for your help! Pressure is now back up to just below 2 but won't ignite, doesn't sound like the fan is running and there is no spark?!

Any ideas?

Thanks again

What's the boiler make and model ?

Does it have a permanent pilot - or electronic ignition ?
