Drum Bearings on a Hotpoint Washer.

by beejay » Fri Dec 10, 2010 7:03 pm

I am currently fixing new bearings on my Hotpoint AQUARIUS WM model. I have managed to remove the old bearings and put the new ones in OK as well as the seal for the large bearing on the inside of the drum. I have put the metal drum into the plastic drum, screwed on the belt wheel and tightened up the nut. To my horror the metal drum is lifting up and down inside the plastic drum. Having taken it apart again I have noticed that at the base of the shaft on the spider there is what looks like a washer (circlip) that is borken. There is only about 65% of it remaining and I am thinking that this is why the drum is lifting up and down on the shaft? Am I right and if so what is the name of this part and finally where can I purchase one from please?
Any help or advice that you can give to me would be gratefully appreciated.

Bill Johnson.
