Electrolux Dishwasher ESL 43020 Grinding Noise Problem

My dishwasher has stopped working and started to make a grinding sound.
This sound now begins as soon as the plug is switched on without any cycle selected or the dishwasher being switched on.

Can anyone please diagnose what the problem might be and how to resolve it?
