Bosch dishwasher and no water entering

Can’t find the model but this Bosch dishwasher is at least 10 maybe 15 years old. During the first wash for months yesterday it failed to finish, with a rather rough motor sound continuing until I eventually switched off power. It was clearly near the end, but it seemed that the final rinse had not been done. There was also some water remaining.

Today I followed instructions to access the motor ‘propellor’, which was free to spin and seemed to be unobstructed. On re-assembling and switching on there is no water entering, even several minutes later. But I can hear what sounds like a motor (the pump?) running, quietly this time.

Can one of the experts here advise the likely cause please? Is it something I can fix myself, or does it need a professional? If the latter, we live in East Grinstead, West *******, UK.

Hi terrypin,
Difficult to pinpoint the problem, it could be the water inlet valve, the pump, the main controller or a combination of these.
If you get a specialist in it's likely to cost in excess of £100 so suggest you retire the Bosch.

Thanks, appreciate the reply.

Pleased to report that I eventually fixed it. Apart from various other things I’d previously tried resetting it by holding the on/off button for at least 3 seconds, but that didn’t work. So, thinking there must be *some* way to reset I tried combinations of two buttons. Not sure but I think the winning combination was Prewash & Normal.

I’m rather surprised that it doesn’t reset whenever power is removed and restored.
