Heat Proofing Plaster Walls

I have a pair of woodburners that are pushing out so much heat that nearby plaster (on plasterboard) walls are drying and cracking. Can anyone advise on what materials or methods I can replace this plaster with a heatproof substance that will fit flush and allow decoration (painting)?

I too have woodburner, I rendered my wall instead of plastering and had have no problems that was five years ago!
