eletric shower

by vikz » Tue Jan 29, 2008 2:05 pm

Hi there I have an eletric shower and some time back when it was in use there was an awful smell almost fishy and it seemed to be coming from outside the bathroom on the opposite side of the wall to where the shower is fitted to, also this is where switch is with neon light. Had an electician check the switch but couldn't find fault. Haven't noticed problem for ages but now neon light looks as thho its on all the time and red switch looks as tho its slightly melted at corner. Been looking for a replacement switch but don't seem to be so easy to get with neon light unless you don't mined a big clumsy looking thing on wall outside your bathroom. Any ideas to problem or to replacing switch with a more modern looking one?

The switch is taking 45 amp so will be on chunky side. Maybe to old one was not rated 45 amp and thats why it smells? Outlets like Screwfix will have limited selection try CEF or Newey & Eyre.
