travertine tiles - how often do i have to rehone?

thinking of laying travertine tiles in our toilet and bathroom - not a huge area, about 4sqm.
somebody has told me that you have to periodically rehone and fill the tiles where the surface gets worn and the factory filler comes loose.
how often am i likely to need to to this? i know it depends on conditions and foot traffic etc but its just a bathroom, family home, typical volume of traffic.
