Instead of tiles?

Hi. I'm moving our shower-bath onto a different wall in our bathroom and also stripping all the walls. Would it be possible not to use tiles around the new bath. Ultimately I'd like the whole bathroom to have plain white walls, and wondered if I could use aquapanel with some kind of water resistant skim/paint.

Obviously there is no necessity to tile round a bath, but if that bath is being used as a shower, then definitely the walls will need protection from the water. I have never seen any skim or paint product that would satisfy the required as it is not just to guard against water penetration, but also to give the wall mechanical protection.

If you don't like tiles you can choose from various plastic or laminate panels that will offer the same barrier.

glass is a very fashionable alternative to tiles these days. various colours, stlyes and options available. you can buy large bespoke single pieces or smaller modular styles. can't provide links here but a google search will turn stuff up quite easily for ideas.

We have bought wet wall (95*47 inches) to do our shower as an alternative to tiles. It is expensive, but well worth it.
