Re-tiling on top of existing tiles. Advice and information on tiling and fixing tiles to a variety of surfaces

Hi,

I have a shower cubicle which was created using stud plaster board walls. Whilst using a grout removing tool this has chipped and damaged the ceramic tiles. From previous questions regarding the removal of tiles from plasterboard, it would suit me to re-tile over the top of existing. Is this advisable and what is the best method?
