Can a fireplace (that will be used with a small fire basket) be re-tiled with standard porcelain floor tiles or does it need specialist fireplace tiles?. Another existing fireplace in the house already has "normal" mosaic tiles and they do not seem to have suffered any heat damage from the fire.

I have a few spare floor tiles that would look good in the fireplace but don't want to lay them if they will crack!
