tiling query,where do you start?

by ogon » Mon Jun 25, 2007 8:19 pm

I am attempting to tile my kitchen, the question i keep asking myself and my friends is where you would actually start, sounds a daft question but no one can answer me seriously,my walls are sound and pretty level, and i have given all surfaces to tile a coat of pva at 2/1 ratio,
thanks

I generally put a wood batten all round the area, with the top about 1/2 tile up from the splashback or counter top. Then tile up from there, so you have a support for the tiles and they go in level. Then take off the batten and fill in the 1/2 tiles below.

thanks for answering my query, I just have one question, do you have to put your batten half a tile up or could you use a full tile, is there a reason for this ?
thanks again, ogon.
