Large 600x600 Marble Tiles for Retiling Bathroom Advice and information on tiling and fixing tiles to a variety of surfaces

Hi. Retileing the bathroom.
2 walls are solid brick and block, 2 are plasterboard stud.
Old tiles are std 6x6 inch ceramic. New will be large natural marble.
Do I need to fix HardiBoard as well (on top of) the existing plasterboard or can I just fix marble to existing plasterboard?

As marble is expensive and will last a life time I would suggest you use the backer board.
