Advice on tiling in kitchen using subway tiles

I need to Fix subway tiles in the area between my wall units and base units. If I start tiling from the bottom up starting with a full tile at the worktop, I will be left with a space of about half inch when I get to the bottom of the wall units. I suspect if I try to cut tiles to fit, it will probably lead to breakages. Whilst the small gap isn’t that visible, I suspect a professional tiler would deal with this in another way.
