Tanalised Shed That has Been Stained With Water Based Stain

by sooie » Sun May 07, 2017 1:10 pm

hope someone can help! I have a new large tantalised shed which I have I believe foolishly stained with a water based stain (cuprinol shades) I was lured by the range of colours. I have applied 2 coats and it looks nice. I now realised however that I should have used an oil/solvent/spirit based stain! Is there a product I could use on top of the water based stain that would help protect the shed? or should I just wait for some weathering and use an oil based one next time it needs it?
I considered yacht varnish but I have read that this is not a good product for soft wood and the spirit based products I can find all say that they need to be applied to bare wood.
