B@ggeration. Anchor screw rescue required!!
Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2008 4:32 pm
Hi folks,
am mounting a towel radiator on a porcelain tiled wall.
After several lifetimes, I've drilled the 4 holes required. I've drilled them wide enough so that I can use plasterboard wall anchors (the metal collapsible type) directly into the wall behind the tile (so as not to split the tile).
So, 3 go in fine, then bizarrely the last one has the screw spinning regardless of direciton of screwing. Note - the actual fixing remained properly bedded and didn't spin. I've finally got the screw out, but now am a bit screwed (pun intended).
Anyone had this happen/have any ideas? Obviously can't resite the thing!
I'm considering trying to get a machine screw longer than the current one (75mm), but failing that - am open to any suggestions!
So near, and yet.....
Many thanks,
Heeb
