Stumped!! I want to fix a sun canopy to the outside wall. The wall 300 mm thick and made of hollow red clay blockwork. What kind of heavy duty fixing can be used on a wall like this?

have you tried metal stud and anchor resin?

I had never heard of this resin fixing solution. But it worked fine.
It is VERY expensive, but works. So well in fact that one bolt I tried to back off a bit and took the head off!
