I'm an American expat living in London and have no idea where to buy these things! In the US, I would just go to Home Depot and have them cut me a wood pole to size to expand my closet, but I don't know where to go in London.

I want to add a second rail to my closet as there is tons of unused space that i can use to hang up more clothes.

I need something like this:
Google "buyrailings.com/images/products/prod_m/1004_m_LB-00-505-SET.jpg"

and this:

and also Google this "buyrailings.com/images/products/prod_s/1114_s_closetrods.jpg"

but in wood and cut down to the size of my closet.

Help!

I'm in post code SW10 9EU if that helps.

hermosa81,
If you go to homebase or B&Q they stock these items, you may also need to buy a junior hacksaw to cut the pole to the right length.

homebase and B&Q are the closest equivalents to home depot in this country.

don't use wood - softwood dowelling will bend under the weight of all the clothing (if you are anything like my wife anyway!) and hardwood dowelling is expensive and difficult to come by.

use hollow steel, designed for the job, easy to install and plenty strong enough provided it is installed correctly.
