Drilling Correctly

by mendonl » Mon Oct 05, 2009 6:57 pm

I am a newbie at DIY and would appreciate assistance from the experts. I have been trying to fix curtain rods, however when I try to drill a hole the hole is much larger than expected. Not sure if I am using an incorrect technique. At the end of the Job the hole seems to be the shape of a cone. Large at the begining and slowly tapering into the wall

Pls Help

mendonl,
Chances are that you are hitting either a concrete or steel lintol above the window. Either drill into these with an appropriate drill or fit a timber bar which you can then screw into.
end
