Re-fixing bracket for kitchen blinds

I had a roller blind in my kitchen fixed to metal brackets, which were secured to the horizontal frame above the window. One of these has now fallen out leaving a hole around which the plaster appears to be crumbling (see picture).

I've also attached a second picture of the bracket on the other side to show how this should look.

What are my options for re-attaching the bracket, I thought initially some kind of filler would be enough but obviously nothing is going to stay in place in a vertical hole while it sets and in any event fillers all need a dust free surface to adhere to and the surface of the plaster *is* dust.

Any thoughts?

fix a length of 2 or 3 x1 to the ceiling using gripfill or no nails when set attach your brackets to it. you could remove the plastic trim and move the timber closer to the window frame if you want
