I was planning to fit a resin hangboard (a piece of climbing equipment that would attach by two bolts and would need to support a person's weight) to the hundred year old brickwork above my back door. However, I'm not sure what the risks of cracking a brick or similar damage would be when drilling a hole into the middle of two of these vertical bricks (image attached) nor whether there'd be a risk of damage from my body weight pulling straight down on this specific brick arrangement. I reckon it's probably fine, but I'd like a second opinion before I take a drill to my house. Any views?

If you try bolting into the bricks using plastic plugs or expanding bolts there is the possibility of cracking the bricks. Once you have drilled the holes (make them bigger than the bolts) use some 2-part anchor-fix but follow the instructions.

Provided the brickwork around the area you will be bolting into is sound there should not be a problem.
