Fitting blackout blind in window recess

Hi,
I need advice please about fitting a blackout blind inside a window recess. The brackets have to be fastened to the lintel above the window. I positioned and marked the brackets but then realised that the drill won't fit into the corner as it's too bulky. The brackets would have to be moved inwards and away from the edge of the window, which means the blind wouldn't cover the window properly, thus defeating the object of having a blackout blind.
Instead, I decided to fit the blind outside the recess which was fine, but it just let's loads of light through the edges making it quite useless. It would be much better to be inside the recess but I don't have the right tools.
I did some googling and wondered if a right-angled drill attachment would work. It seems to fit the bill in that it should fit neatly into the corner of the recess but I don't think you can use the hammer function with it, which I would need to drill into the lintel.
Is there any solution to this problem that won't cost a fortune?
Thank you in advance!
