I have a plaster boardwall, and want to screw on a 44mmx69mm wood border on one side of the room so i can then screw a 2600mmx500mm sheet of wood on top of this border to create a desk, i will have support underneath the desk with wooden beams.

I need some advise on how to make this border as safe and secure as possible.

I was thinking of using 50mm wallplugs and a 90mm nail, 44mm of this nail will be in the wood, then the rest 46mm will be in the wallplug.

This is just an idea, if there are better ideas please share =]

The measurements on the picture at different to the measurements I have said now since I changed my mind about the thickness of the wall mount.

Nailing into plasterboard is no good unless you arre sure you have nailed into an upright stud. Nailing into wall plugs is completely innefective. See our project on fixing to plasterboard to see how to do it correctly.
