Hello everyone , advice needed ..... I'm trying to fix a curtain rail and this involves drilling several small holes with a 6mm drill . However the plaster seems to be more like sand ! When i tap a rawlplug into the hole , the hole starts pouring out sand and the hole just gets a lot wider ... any ideas how to get round this ? is it a common problem ? .... hopefully yours .Steve.

Hi steve.perrins,
your problem is that you plaster started to deteriate. If you don't plan to replaster, i'd consider using longer plugs and try hit something more stable further in.

Thanks for advice KB , will try that this weekend ..... alternatively i might just glue wooden batten to wall using pinkgrip and fix curtain pole to that !
