Hi,
I just like to make a small post about the new Planning Permission rules from October 2008 for Conservatories.
Under the new Planning regulations that came into effect from 1st of October 2008, Planning Permission will be required for your conservatory if any of these conditions are met:
If more than half the area of land around the "original house"* is covered by additions or other buildings.
If a conservatory is forward of the principal elevation or side elevation fronting a highway.
If a conservatory is higher than the highest part of the roof.
If the depth of a rear conservatory exceeds three metres for an attached house (semi-detached/ terrace) and four metres for a detached house.
If the height of the Conservatory exceeds four metres.
If a side conservatory Protrudes further than half that of the original house.
* The term "original house" means the house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948 (if it was built before that date). Although you may not have built an extension to the house, a previous owner may have done so.
