Right to light

I am trying to get an understanding of the right to light rule and all I know so far is that it isn't the 45 degree rule!

I'm a uni student studying architecture and what I've been told from a tutor is that I need to draw a line from the centre of the existing window at 60 degrees and below this line is where my building can reach up to. I'm not quite sure he's correct... He's right about drawing the line from the centre of the window but at what angle? Does anyone know?

I understood it to be 45 but I could be wrong.

Thanks for replying willraff but I don't think anyone here knows...

Could people suggest other places for me to try?
