Backing onto farmland and building regs

by Treecity » Mon Apr 08, 2013 2:00 pm

Hi,

We have a large double garage (8x6m) that backs onto arable farmland.

The building is 1m from the boundary fence.

We want to put bi-folding doors approx 2.1x2.1m plus a window approx 1.8x1m on the back of the building looking out over the farmland.

I understand there are building regs that would not allow the above if we backed onto a building but does anyone know what the regs are when backing onto open farmland?

you will still need planning permission as your changing the exterior of the building, it does not matter where you are situated

Our local planning authority has written to confirm we do not need planning permission, only building regs.
